The Purpose Of The COP Compliance Manual
The Manual is designed to help organizations assess the level of compliance with the CMS Acute Care Conditions of Participation (COP). The Manual will increase the knowledge level of organizations regarding the COP requirements and provide a comprehensive set of compliance activities from which to assess and improve compliance.
Hospitals Need The COP Compliance Manual
While hospitals are familiar with JCAHO standards and spend significant resources achieving and maintaining compliance with Joint Commission standards, many staff are often unfamiliar with the Conditions of Participation. It is not surprising that many organizations are out of compliance. At the same time, COP surveys have increased in frequency and rigor. This manual references JCAHO standards that address the same or similar requirements, helping you maximize effectiveness and minimize redundant activities.
The Manual Is Structured To Overcome Obstacles To Success
The COP-Compliance Manual contains a chapter for each Condition of Participation. Each chapter contains 7 sections:
- Text of the COP
- Evidence of Compliance
- Joint Commission Crosswalk
- Alert Boxes
- Compliance Activities
- Worksheets
- Chapter Summary Checklist
All chapters link together for a comprehensive systems approach to compliance.
Every chapter is dedicated to a specific Condition of Participation. Each chapter is a distinct "stand alone" document, complete with appropriate cross references for the Condition.
