Emanuel Furst, Ph.D., CCE , President, Improvement Technologies, LLC, has over 20 years experience managing clinical engineering and six years of experience in healthcare consulting. He is coauthor of e-Essentials: EC Knowledge and Assessment, Clinical Engineering Improvement Tools (CEIT), author of Outsourcing Or Insourcing: Securing A Successful Clinical Engineering Program and a contributing editor of Facilities Engineering Improvement Tools (FEIT). His healthcare consulting includes JCAHO Environment of Care standards and clinical engineering management. He has been active in AAMI, ASHE, and IEEE, and has served on the Board of Directors and committee chairperson at AAMI, and was an associate editor for the IEEE. C. Roger Camplin, Consultant and President of Camplin, Bartels and Associates, has a 35 year background in fire protection, healthcare loss control and life safety. Roger has been a faculty member for JCAHO and staff engineer for the Joint Commission's Environment of Care and Safety Management programs and member of many NFPA technical committees. He has extensive experience in healthcare construction plan review, equivalency assistance, life safety and safety program analysis. He is well known for his expertise in comprehensive integration of Environment of Care functions into the overall operations of facilities, organizational performance improvement and patient safety programs to develop an organizational culture of safety. For the past 35 years Roger has served both national and international healthcare facilities across the continuum of care with accreditation preparation and standards-based technical assistance. This fall Roger will present on JCAHO-Environment of Care at the EC Summit, in New Orleans, LA and later host an Audio Conference on the same topic, both sponsored by United Communications Group. W. D. McKinney co-author of Clinical Engineering Improvement Tools and contributing editor, Facilities Engineering Improvement Tools was assistant director, hospitals and clinics, support services at U.C. Davis Medical Center. His responsibilities included facilities planning, plant operations and maintenance, clinical engineering, purchasing, central sterile service, laundry, housekeeping and telecommunications. He was responsible for the design coordination of an eight story patient tower. He has been a long-time advocate of data driven program management, and authored papers on self-assessment, performance improvement, peer comparison and benchmarking. He played a leading role in the facility-wide quality improvement program at the U.C. San Diego Medical Center.
Bruce Hyndman, MSEE, PE is Director of Engineering Services at the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula, Monterey, CA, and a consultant in health care engineering and forensics. He has held positions at Stanford Medical Center, Palo Alto and Sutter Hospitals, Sacramento. He has planned and managed major capital projects and currently managse both facilities and clinical engineering.
